The Opportunity 

  • A Operator at a growth-oriented energy company. 
  • The operator follows all safety, environmental, and operating procedures while coordinating with supervision and maintenance to ensure reliable production and protect personnel, equipment, and the facility.
  • Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, you will safely and efficiently run process units by monitoring operating conditions, performing equipment rounds, responding to alarms, and maintaining accurate logs.

 

Key activities include: 

  • Monitor and operate pumps, valves, and other field equipment to move crude oil and finished products between tanks and process units.
  • Responsible for recording, monitoring, and observing process data such as pressures, temperatures, and levels of all equipment in the unit.
  • Conduct routine inspections of tanks, pumps, and associated equipment to identify leaks, malfunctions, or unsafe conditions.
  • Perform rounds on all process equipment and monitor all safety equipment located in the unit and diagnose problems with process equipment and instrumentation.
  • Follow all plant rules and regulations and observe all safety rules associated with hazards located in and around the process units.
  • Able to switch equipment from Automatic to Manual modes and understand all equipment requirements for operation.
  • Collect product samples as needed for laboratory analysis.
  • Communicate with the control room and other operators to coordinate product movements.
  • Train new operators in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Generate work orders for general maintenance requirements and prepare equipment for maintenance personnel.
  • Accurately complete logs, reports, chemical sheets and other documentation in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To meet the basic qualifications for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship.

 

Additional qualifications include:   

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • College coursework or degree preferred; certifications are a plus
  • Must be 18 years old or older
  • Experience with loading and unloading large trucks and trailers is required
  • Experience with tank transfers and loading rack operation in a refinery environment is required
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks, including climbing tanks and lifting up to [50] lbs., the ability to reach overhead, squat, kneel, climb and grasp are required
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail preferred
  • Basic computer and recordkeeping skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and Word are required
  • Strong math skills including the ability to work with percentages, converting fractions to decimals, etc. is required
  • Strong communication skills are required
  • The ability to work well independently and in a team environment is required
  • Strong organization and multitasking skills to ensure efficiency are required
  • Fluency in English, both oral and written are required
  • A commitment to attendance and punctuality required
  • A strong work ethic is required
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Frequent walking, standing, and sitting are required
  • The ability to work at various heights and in confined spaces is required
  • The ability to work in a position exposed to heat, noise, humidity, altitude, smoke, fumes, dust, gases, hydrocarbons, paints, and solvents and wear all associated PPE in accordance with OSHA rules will be required
  • Must have been trained and be able to successfully test on (4) four process complexes in the refinery process within a timely manner
  • Will be required to re-certify on all OSHA-required training for unit operation
  • Must always be available for emergencies and be prepared to work overtime for turnarounds or unexpected personnel shortages
  • Periodic on-call will be required throughout the year
