Title:  Human Resources Business Partner

The Opportunity 

  • Human Resources Business Partner at a growth-oriented energy company
  • You will advise employees at the Par Montana Refinery, Pipeline and Terminal locations and support day to day human resources issues. As the point of contact for site managers, your guidance will help drive planning, decision making, labor relations activities, and implementation of staffing and team development.

  • Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, you will provide exemplary HR service to internal and external stakeholders.

 

Key activities include: 

  • Implement and execute key Human Resources strategies, programs and activities in alignment with business objectives
  • Develop trusting relationships, coach leaders & employees and foster a high performance and safety-oriented work culture
  • Work closely with site leadership to execute talent management activities such as staffing, performance management, succession, and development planning
  • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition regarding recruitment activities and manage local onboarding and off-boarding processes
  • Provide employee relations services, conduct investigations and lead parties to mutually acceptable resolution
  • Support labor relations activities, maintain professional and collaborative working relationships with Union leadership, participate in Company/Union meetings, research, develop recommendations and advise on the resolution of contractual issues, and contribute to grievance processes
  • Ensure data integrity with HR and organizational data to include accurate data management, information tracking, reporting, and coordination with timekeepers & payroll team on pay and time processing
  • Provide information, advice, assistance and training to leadership and employees regarding the application of policies, procedures, relevant regulations, and benefit administration

Qualifications

To meet the basic qualifications for employment, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship.

 

Qualifications for this role:   

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field required; directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Professional certification(s) (SPHR or SHRM-SCP) is a plus
  • Minimum three years professional experience in human resources or a related field involving customer service, data management, project leadership, compliance, problem solving and/or conflict resolution
  • Experience working in Labor relations within a union environment is strongly preferred
  • Experience with employee relations including conducting workplace investigations is strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of HR compliance and employment law in human resource practice, including selection procedures, EEO and affirmative action compliance requirements, as well as labor standards and labor relations principals preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office applications (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, etc.) required
  • The ability to handle confidential and sensitive information discreetly and professionally required
  • HRIS and payroll experience with SAP SuccessFactors or Ceridian Dayforce is a plus
  • Conflict resolution and strong interpersonal skills, insight into group dynamics, empathy, and diplomacy & tact through difficult conversations necessary
  • Proven ability to build strong working relationships with organizational leaders required
  • Ability to be forward thinking and strategic with respect to HR processes and systems, creating a climate for change required
  • Self-directed, organized, flexible and able to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment required
  • Experience in the energy or related industry is preferred
