Title:  Mechanical Engineer

The Role 

Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Supervisor, you will be mechanical engineering support (primarily for piping and fixed equipment) with the objectives of improving safety, environmental, reliability, profitability, and expense performance. As part of your specific responsibilities, in the following areas, you will: 

  • Improve reliability and mechanical integrity within your areas of responsibility
  • Provide troubleshooting and engineering support to maintenance and operations during emergency/incident responses
  • Identify and steward changes through the site’s change management process
  • Complete mechanical integrity tasks as needed to maintain compliance
  • Update documentation and drawings to incorporate equipment revisions and repairs
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of industry codes, standards, best practices, and programs to apply to engineered solutions
  • Support site behavioral-based safety program for the technical function in your area
  • Support maintenance turnaround plan, turnaround basis (interval, Turnaround Basis Memorandum, competitiveness, etc.), milestone compliance, and work list for your area
  • Support turnaround execution with timely and accurate engineering of discovery work

The Requirements 

To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. To be a good fit for the mechanical engineer opportunity, you will have: 

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering (or related degree)
  • Experience with fixed equipment maintenance and design, including experience with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code and ASME B31.3 Piping Code
  • Knowledge and understanding of fixed equipment strategies
  • Knowledge and understanding of mechanical integrity processes
  • Experience with conducting incident investigations and Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA)
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in mechanical engineering roles supporting refining and/or chemical plant operations
  • Experience with executing complex turnarounds and downtimes preferred
  • Experience and understanding of reliability engineering preferred
