Title:  Process Control Applications Engineer

  • Reporting to the Process Control Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in leveraging technology to ensure the safe, reliable, and profitable operation of the refinery

 

Key activities include: 

  • DCS programming, control configuration changes, graphic display building. Also responsible for Advanced Process Controls support including multivariable and model predictive control applications
  • Improve process control architecture to optimize refinery unit performance. Identify new profit opportunities for unit optimization and introduce new technologies to the refinery
  • Provide technical support on the Honeywell DCS, DMC, PLC/SIS Interface to DCS, and other complex special purpose control systems as required
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to support ongoing process control system improvements and new project initiatives. Assist field installation, loop check, construction, commissioning, and system testing for projects as required
  • Monitor control performance and work closely with operations to maintain stable control. Troubleshoot and tune control loops
  • Engage in furthering organizational goals, demonstrated by maintaining high standards of personal performance, professional growth, and attendance

  • Support occasional refinery call-out for DCS emergency procedures
  • Follow refinery safe work practices and ensure that all DCS support work follows the refinery Process Safety Management procedures
  • Support shift work during MPC step testing or unit start-ups
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications
To meet the basic qualifications for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship.

Additional qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical), computer science, mathematics/data science, or informational technology required
  • At least 3 years of DCS experience and/or programming experience
  • Experience in Advance Process Controls, DMC, or equivalent process control tools is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with alarm management and abnormal situation management applications also desirable
  • Knowledge and experience with DCS, PLC’s, instrumentation, field wiring practices, and automation troubleshooting
  • Experience working with P&ID’s, instrument loop drawings and DCS graphics
