Title: Rail Operations Scheduler

- Reporting to the Rockies Rail Manager, you will provide exemplary customer service to our clients.
Key activities include:
- Assume 24/7 responsibility for the scheduling and coordination of all manifest railcars for Par Montana.
- Cross train, support, and backup team members as necessary for continuity.
- Create, execute, and optimize monthly logistics plans.
- Ensure timely supply and deliveries through the scheduling and coordination of railcars, suppliers, terminals, and railroads.
- Interface extensively with the commercial group, other internal departments, counterparties, third party terminals, railroads, and other external entities.
- Use GeoMetrix to optimize cars, manage costs, create bills of lading, track and handle bad orders, etc.
- Use GeoMetrix to determine railcar milestones are met – from loading\offloading and empty or loaded release of railcars to the customer or the supplier.
- Maintain, develop, and improve internal and external reporting requirements such as fleet utilization, railcar movements, demurrage, etc.
- Interface with other departments to assist in operations planning, inventory management, invoicing, bill payment, and other financial decisions.
- Participate in daily/weekly operations planning meetings.
- Work with operations, lessors and repair companies to manage rail fleet maintenance and regulatory compliance.
- Remain current with all DOT and Rail regulations, including interaction with FRA, STB, etc.

Qualifications
To meet the basic qualifications for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship.
Additional qualifications include:
- Experience with Rail commodity logistics, scheduling, or operations.
- Experience with and working knowledge of:
- Freight billing, tracking, and dispute resolution.
- Fleet optimization (spares, delays, bad orders, etc.).
- The ability to analyze large sets of data to develop and support transportation processes and the company’s strategic plan.
- Critical thinking skills and the ability to see the “bigger picture”, and what impacts certain actions could have on the day to day operation.
- The ability to identify and resolve the typical issues that arise to keep the fleet moving.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel as it is a primary tool used daily in this role. An ability to use, dissect, and troubleshoot Excel formulas is a must.
- A keen attention to detail and critical reasoning is a must.
- Strong oral, written, and non-verbal communication skills.
- Timely internal and external communication is a must.
- A self-starter approach with ability to work with little or no supervision in an independent and collaborative team environment.
- Comfortable working in an open trade floor or bullpen type of environment.
- Live in Billings with some travel to the other locations.
- Experience with GeoMetrix is preferred
