The Requirements

 

To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. To be a good fit for the Senior Financial Analyst opportunity, you will have: 

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or similar required; a CPA is a plus 
  • 3-5+ years of relevant financial analysis and/or accounting experience
  • Retail and/or Energy industry experience is highly preferred, ideally, refinery or oil & gas. We will also consider experience within other relevant industries, such as industrial manufacturing
  • Strong computer skills, including:
    • Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
    • Advanced Excel skills (e.g. complex/compound spreadsheets; advanced formulas, VLOOKUPs, HLOOKUPs, pivot tables, etc.)
    • ERP Accounting module experience; SAP preferred. You will learn SAP with us if you don't already know it
    • A history of making suggestions and supporting change

You will work a Monday through Friday day shift and should have schedule flexibility to accommodate expected and unexpected changes. While we work to maintain a strong work/life balance, during month-end and budget season work can scale and require extended hours for a brief period of time. 

 

The Role

 

Role Overview

Reporting to the Senior Manager Accounting, as Senior Financial Analyst, you will be responsible for our Hawaiian retail business and other business units/cost centers (i.e. environmental health cost center and HI office cost centers among others. Daily, you will interact with cross-functional groups and participate in forecasting, budgets, reporting, and other financial modeling that will help drive business decisions. You may also interact with team members at our corporate location in Houston.

 

Role Details

You will work on a talented team in the Honolulu office, including two managers reporting to your supervisor (handling the Retail Accounting Group and the Logistics business) and four team members -- accountants-- supporting them. It's a great team with a good mix of personalities and talent that works well together. If you are a go-getter who is an independent thinker -- someone who can effectively collaborate but also work independently, you'll fit right in. 

 

As part of your essential functions, you will:

 

  • Maintain and publish financial forecasting models for HI Retail and other business units
  • Analyze and communicate HI Retail and other business units’ financial results to management
  • Facilitate the budget process for HI Retail and other business units
  • Perform weekly ad hoc financial analysis on behalf of management
  • Create PowerPoint decks outlining financial results and forecasts to be presented to management and the Board
  • Provide analytic support to business initiatives
  • Provide data to external auditors as necessary
  • Work with Accounting leadership and leadership on monthly variance reporting
  • Attend leadership and board meetings to go over the financial package
