Title:  Technical Support Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

The Technical Support Engineer will provide expertise and support to resolve complex technical issues for server, network, cloud, desktop and mobile technologies primarily for Par Hawaii and Par Refinery. Serves as a technical expert in the area of system administration for complex operating systems. Assists the field end-users in the use of field IT technology. This position is responsible for the daily backup and restoration functionality in Hawaii. Additionally, this position can function, as requested, on an enterprise level providing the same functional services for the enterprise.

 

This position will manage the networks and servers within the refinery, DC’s and remote terminal locations. This position develops new system and application implementation plans, custom scripts and testing procedures to ensure operational reliability. Requires minimal supervision and demonstrate ability to operate autonomously.

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical field or equivalent experience, certifications and training
  • Obtain appropriate certifications to support the SME level knowledge required for this position.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 1-5 years' hands-on Windows system administration experience in a distributed environment
  • 1-2 Years working within professional, enterprise level IT Organization
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Windows servers and related technologies
  • Microsoft Windows 7 Professional, Windows 8, Windows 10, Macintosh OS
  • Strong Working knowledge of MS Office and other Microsoft applications
  • Strong working knowledge of enterprise application delivery and desktop management systems
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills required
  • Strong verbal and written client communications skills required
  • Experience in managing multiple resources in a matrix organization that includes technical and business users/roles
  • Must have a strong dedication to customer service
  • Fluent in English, both oral and written required
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to adjust work schedule to accommodate unexpected changes

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Troubleshoot/resolve hardware, software, and network issues with Windows systems as needed
  • Provide direct end-user technical support in the day-to-day operations of a variety of technologies and software solutions
  • Perform systems administration for PC, server and networking hardware and operating systems, including investigation, analysis, recommendation, configuration, installation and testing of computer and network hardware and software
  • Responsible for the day to day backup operations, ensuring that backups are being completed according to Par policy
  • Document case activities and interactions with clear and concise information
  • Contribute to our knowledge base by creating solution articles, how-to guides and videos
  • Maintain, secure and update Active Directory
  • Address operational systems issues including file and share permissions, user accounts and installing applications
  • Promote and maintain server patch management practice
  • Manage LDAP authentication and delegation rights
  • Manage and participate in projects as assigned and work with team members across the company to deliver project goals.
  • Ensure that all security requirements are met or exceeded
  • Document technical designs and procedure
  • Communicate information through effective written and oral communication and presentations
  • Troubleshoot advanced System and Storage issues escalated from the team, determine root cause and resolve.
