Accounting Analyst - Billing

 

The Opportunity 

  • Accounting Analyst - Billing at a growth-oriented energy company.
  • Key role in the O2C accounting cycle with heavy interaction with Commercial, Operations, Contracts, Settlement, Middle Office, IT, Tax and Acct./Finance.
  • Ability to learn and grow in new areas and systems
  • Responsible for ensuring accurate billing, accounting, and tracking of refined products sales

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply a high level of attention to detail and analytical judgment to ensure product sales are accurately recorded across SAP, logistics systems, and support Excel-based financial models.
  • Utilize advanced Excel skills to maintain, update, and analyze complex models incorporating contract terms, pricing formulas, and logistical data.
  • Perform monthly close activities, including preparing and analyzing accruals, reconciliations, and recording standard and non-standard journal entries.
  • Coordinate with Contracts, Master Data, and IT to ensure accurate setup of complex pricing structures, new customers, and non-standard invoicing requirements.
  • Collaborate with Commercial, FP&A, Accounting, Tax, Operations, and Treasury to support financial reporting, analysis, and business initiatives.
  • Ensure billing and processes comply with SOX controls, internal accounting policies, and documentation standards.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives, system enhancements, and special analytical projects as assigned by management.
  • Provide strong accounting fundamentals with proven analytical rigor and attention to detail to independently investigate variances and resolve discrepancies.

Qualifications 

To meet the basic qualifications for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship.

 

Additional qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in either billing, A/R, Order-to-Cash, shared services, Big 4, or relevant progressive accounting experience required
  • Highly organized, able to manage competing priorities in a close cycle and collaborate effectively across Finance, Commercial/Sales, Operations, and IT required
  • Advanced Excel proficiency and strong MS Office skills required
  • SAP or ERP/billing system experience preferred
  • Oil & gas industry experience preferred
