Title:  Marine Commercial Manager

The Role 

Reporting to the Vice President of Trading & Supply, you will provide marine commercial and technical expertise to support Par Pacific’s refining and logistics businesses in Hawaii and Washington state.  You’ll be part of a dynamic and growing commercial operations and trading organization at the company’s corporate headquarters.


The Opportunity 

As the Marine Commercial Manager at a Growth-Oriented Energy Company you will:

  • Serve as the marine lead for a fast-paced, creative trading and commercial operations group
  • Interface with vessel representatives and brokers on freight options
  • Negotiate charter parties in support of Par Pacific’s commercial operations, including: (a) global crude and product movements; (b) tug and fuel barge operations on the USWC and in Hawaii; and (c) trans-pacific movements between Par Pacific’s Tacoma and Hawaii refining centers
  • Apply analytical and critical thinking skills to improve and optimize freight economics for Par Pacific’s refining and logistics businesses.
  • Enjoy exposure to senior management on marine commercial operations initiatives; serve as company’s subject matter expert and present analysis and findings to C-level executives
  • Plan and track vessel movements in coordination with Planning & Economics group
  • Oversee vessel vetting and marine scheduling operations 


The Requirements 

To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. To be a good fit for the Marine Commercial Manager opportunity, you will have: 


  • At least ten years’ experience in marine commercial and/or vessel operations in the petroleum industry
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively influence others through communication and collaboration
  • Demonstrated understanding of business and how actions contribute to company performance
  • Experience managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines
