The Role
Reporting into the Supply and Trading commercial group, your primary focus will be scheduling and optimizing Canadian and US crude oil movements. As part of your specific responsibilities, you will:
- Assume 24/7 responsibility for the management of a significant portion of the company’s crude oil pipeline scheduling in Canada and PADD IV.
- Create and maintain Excel models to assist, guide, and capture your scheduling activities.
- Cross train, support, and backup team members as necessary for continuity.
- Create, execute, and optimize monthly crude oil scheduling and logistics plans.
- Ensure timely supply and deliveries through the scheduling and coordination of various pipelines, suppliers, and terminals.
- Build and maintain commercial relationships.
- Participate in regular operations planning meetings.
- Assume accountability over all invoices for your scheduling movements.
- Assist internal departments in working with customs brokers and/or agents for trans-border commerce.
- Remain current with all applicable pipeline tariffs, rules, and regulations.
- Explore alternative crude delivery opportunities beyond the regular reoccurring business.
- Interface extensively with the commercial group, other internal departments, counterparties, third party terminals, pipeline companies, and other external entities.
- Play an active role in coordinating with refinery schedulers, optimizers, and planners in helping to manage inventory levels and crude movements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
The Requirements
To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. To be a good fit for this opportunity, you will have/be:
- Significant experience scheduling and moving a variety of crude oil grades at Edmonton and Hardisty trading hubs, and PADD IV.
- Experience with Express, Glacier, Frontrange, Silvertip, Bow River, and Red Butte pipeline systems is a plus.
- A strong commercial scheduling network and ability to further develop it into new markets.
- Strong sense of urgency and ability to work under pressure.
- The ability to identify and resolve the typical issues that arise in scheduling and moving crude oil in Alberta and PADD IV.
- Excellent working knowledge and experience with the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel as it is a primary tool used daily in this role. (The ability to build, use, dissect, and troubleshoot Excel formulas is a must.)
- A keen attention to detail and critical reasoning.
- Strong oral, written, and non-verbal communication skills.
- Timely internal and external communication.
- A self-starter approach with ability to work with little or no supervision in an independent and collaborative team environment.
- Comfortable working in an open trade floor or bullpen/cubical type of environment.
- Live in Houston with regular travel to visit with coparties and attend industry events to represent Par Pacific’s interests.
