Title:  Marine Scheduler

The Marine Scheduler supports the Par Hawaii Crude and Products traders by ensuring that crude deliveries and product sales and purchases are executed in accordance with the purchase/sale contract. The Marine Scheduler is responsible for tracking the voyage from the vetting of the performing vessel to the completion of discharge for crude voyages and product deliveries and until completion of load for product exports. Voyage documentation such as inspector nominations, documentation instructions and discharge orders as well as confirming vessel acceptance with third party suppliers and receivers is handled for every vessel delivering crude or loading/discharging products at the Par Hawaii Refinery at Kapolei Hawaii.

The Marine Scheduler may also be required to assist with work in Marine Claims and vessel operations. The Scheduler also provides daily reporting of vessel positions as well as providing documentation to Customs Brokers. 


To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. In addition, to be a good fit for the  Marine Scheduler opportunity, you will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as marine transportation or logistics or equivalent work experience.
  • Marine transportation experience a plus.
  • Third Mates license or equivalent preferred
  • 3+ years combined experience on ocean going tankers or shoreside marine scheduling/operations
  • Experienced in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with peers and clients
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, flexibility in concepts and action, able to handle aggressive mission critical deadlines
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and to divide focus among many different projects
  • Excellent team player - proven ability to resolve problems professionally and systematically
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to adjust work schedule to accommodate unexpected changes



  • Responsible for the daily monitoring and oversight of crude and product deliveries and exports involving the Par Hawaii Refinery at Kapolei, Oahu, Hawaii.
  • Publishes a daily report of all the import and export cargoes, their status, and berthing prospects.
  • Maintains documentation of every voyage and provides information to key stakeholders as required.
  • Provides terminal procedures and practices to suppliers and buyers as requested.
  • Monitors each voyage to ensure compliance with purchase or sale contract including compliance with delivery windows and cargo heating requirements.
  • Handles operations of Time Chartered or Spot Chartered equipment from as requested by Chartering Manager.
  • Assists Chartering Manager with marine claims and other commercial activities as requested.
  • Provides demurrage estimates to traders and Hawaii Refinery as required
  • Communicates requirements for special operations such as line flushing to suppliers as directed by refinery.



  • Strong knowledge of best industry safety practices for oil tankers and terminals.
  • Knowledge and understanding of product stewardship practices.
  • Strong knowledge of petroleum inspection practices and procedures
  • Ability to read and understand Inspection reports and other common cargo documentation
  • Good understanding of tanker operations including navigation and cargo operations.
