Title:  Dispatcher

POSITION SUMMARY

The Dispatcher is responsible for scheduling and assigning vehicles to drivers to deliver petroleum products. Interacts with drivers and customers to ensure customer orders are fulfilled and account inventories are maintained appropriately.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT

 

  •   High School Diploma or GED is required
  •   Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

 

  • 2 years’ experience in truck fleet operations or equivalent desired.
  • Experience in scheduling, inventory tracking, sales projection techniques and calculations of run-out dates
  • Experience working with personal computers (Microsoft Excel and Word).
  • Leadership experience and skills to communicate with hourly paid workforce. Must possess the ability to effectively guide, mentor and motivate drivers.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet critical deadlines.

 

 

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Be knowledgeable on company policies and procedures, and updates procedures and driver manuals as needed.
  2. Receives customer orders via telephone, fax, or computer system for fuel deliveries. Work with customers and/or drivers to help resolve scheduling issues.
  3. Monitors product inventory at company operated locations and other customer locations by prior arrangement to ensure sufficient product supply. Maintains inventories and delivery history to establish usage and delivery profiles. Determines safe fill levels. Keeps customer files of all locations.
  4. Determines products to be loaded on delivery vehicles in order to ensure safety, proper delivery sequence, maintain product integrity on vehicles and meet customer requirements. Consolidate less than truckload deliveries to maximize fleet performance.
  5. Under direction of supervisor, makes periodic field audits.
  6. Conducts driver and delivery evaluations to assure that drivers are following Standard Operating Trucking Procedures.
  7. Regular schedule may include weekends, holidays and on call 24/7 for emergencies.
  8. Serves as Interim Dispatch Services Coordinator in their absence
  9. Performs other duties as assigned or required.
  10. Maintain neat and relevant files, records and work area.
  11. Communicate frequently and effectively with management as appropriate.
