Title:  Electrician- Instrumentation

Position Title: I&E Technician - Electrician

Responsible for the maintenance of existing electrical, electrical-mechanical and related equipment to ensure sufficient and proper working order. Responsible for the instrumentation and electrical basic theory,
maintains instrumentation equipment in good operating condition to insure accuracy and timely findings. The tech identifies, troubleshoots and repairs the wide variety of instrumentation and electrical
equipment at the refinery. Responsible for compliance with all refinery environmental, health and safety standards (hot work, cold work permit, confined space entry, lockout/tag out, personal protection equipment,


• High School Diploma or GED required
• Two-year certification or AA degree in electronics preferred


• 2-5 years of work experience in the electronics industry field preferred
• Minimum five (5) years’ experience in a refinery or manufacturing industry related field desired
• Valid driver’s license required


 Performs basic formulas and math required for the job.
 Understands how to use all test equipment, i.e. ammeter, glow stick, voltage testers.
 Megger equipment and locate ground faults.
 Troubleshoot simple circuits.
 Installs certified electrical equipment.
 Understand and work on 480V motor starters, circuit breakers.
 Installs rigid steel conduit with correct use of seals, drains etc.
 In depth knowledge of NEC and Hazardous Area classifications.
 Maintain Motor Operated valves.
 Maintain Automatic Pump starters.
 Identify relay trip.
 Work on high voltage systems.
 Troubleshoot and maintain PLC’s.
 Other duties as assigned.

Frequent walking, standing, crouching, and climbing required. Must be able to reach overhead, squat,
kneel, climb and grasp. Must be able to lift light, medium, and heavy objects. Must have 20/40 vision
or better, have depth perception, full field, and able to distinguish colors as required in order to weld and
perform other duties. While main duties involve welding and torqueing activities, person may be
requested to perform other duties, such as assisting in mechanical repairs, performing insulating work,
painting, and other duties as required.


Works 9 hour shifts, on a 9/80 schedule.
May be exposed to heat, noise, vibration, humidity, smoke, fumes, dust, gases, paints and thinners.
May be exposed to rain and other weather conditions.
Safety glasses, earplugs, gloves, steel-toed shoes, hard hats, Nomex, and respirator are provided.
Cannot be afraid of heights or of being in confined spaces such as drums, towers or
