Title:  I&E Technician (Analyzer)


Responsible for instrumentation and electrical basic theory to maintain instrumentation equipment in good operating condition to insure accuracy and timely finding.



  • Troubleshoot and repair transmitters, to include but not limited to flow, pressure, temperature, and level transmitters.
  • Calibrates and troubleshoots analyzers.
  • Solves and repairs minor electrical problems.
  • Installs (within reasonable limitations) instrumentation equipment and services as required.
  • Maintains all installed instrumentation and associated equipment and good operating condition.
  • Responsible for compliance with all refinery environmental, health and safety standards (hot work, cold work permit, confined space entry, lockout/tag out, personal protection equipment, etc.)
  • Learns and uses refinery material procurement and job planning process and software.
  • Must be able to take call and work overtime as needed.
  • Maintains PSM program documentation.



  • Instructs and trains helpers that may be assigned to him/her to complete a work project.
  • Oversees the work of outside contractors when they are performing work within the instrumentation trade.
  • Other duties as required.

  • High school diploma or GED is required.  Two-year certification or AA degree in electronics preferred.



  • Successful employment in a previous instrumentation/electrical industrial work environment is desired.



  • Must be in good physical condition as light to medium physical work is required in frequently climbing high refinery equipment or working in confined spaces. To perform the essential functions of the job frequent walking, standing, sitting, twisting, reaching overhead, crouching, squatting, kneeling, gripping, pinching, wrist movement, and manual dexterity are required.  In case of emergencies, running is necessary.
  • Must be able to see with a 20/40 vision or better with good depth perception; must be able to distinguish colors.  Contact lenses shall not be worn as there will be exposure to foreign particles. 
  • Must be able to hear satisfactorily as conversations will frequently take place with loud background equipment noise; a hearing aid is acceptable. 
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 60 lbs.



  • Must not be afraid of heights or confined spaces. 
  • Must be safety and environmentally sensitive. 
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license. 
  • Must be able to use wrenches, screw-drivers, other small-to-medium sized hand tools, and measuring tapes. 
  • Must be prepared to accept training in fire fighting, CPR, and first aid, and be prepared to perform these functions.
  • Must be prepared to respond to operational emergencies in the refinery.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.



Works at the refinery. Exposed to heat, noise, humidity, altitude, smoke, fumes, dust, gases, hydrocarbons, paints, and solvents. Safety glasses, Nomex flame resistant coveralls, earplugs, gloves, Scott air packs, steel toe shoes, hard hats, and respirators are provided. Must be available for mandatory callout and/or overtime.
