- I&E Technician at a growth-oriented energy company

- Reporting to the I & E Supervisor, you will be responsible for the instrumentation and electrical basic theory, maintaining instrumentation equipment in good operating condition to ensure accuracy and timely findings.
- You’ll identify, troubleshoot, and repair the wide variety of instrumentation and electrical equipment at the refinery.
- Responsible for compliance with all refinery’s environmental, health and safety standards.
Key activities include:
- Troubleshoot and repair transmitters, including but not limited to flow, pressure, temperature, and level transmitters.
- Maintains assigned work area and equipment in a safe, orderly, and clean condition.
- Promptly reports any unsafe or abnormal conditions to Supervisor on duty.
- Attends emergency response classes, remains current in required training and responds to refinery emergencies as required.
- Solves and repairs minor electrical problems.
- Installs (within reasonable limitations) instrumentation equipment and services as required.
- Maintains all installed instrumentation and associated equipment and good operating conditions.
- Responsible for compliance with all refineries environmental, health and safety standards (hot work, cold work permit, confined space entry, lockout/tagout, personal protection equipment, etc.)
- Learn and use refinery material procurement and job planning process and software.
- Instructs and trains helpers that may be assigned to him/her to complete a work project.
- Oversees the work of outside contractors when they are performing work within the instrumentation and electrical trade.
- Performs basic formulas and math required for the job.
- Understands how to use all test equipment, i.e., ammeter, voltage tester, multi meter, megger, etc.
- Installs certified electrical equipment.
- Understand and work on motor starters, circuit breakers.
- Installs rigid steel conduit with correct use of seals, drains etc.
- knowledge of NEC and Hazardous Area classifications.
- Maintain Motor Operated valves.
- Maintain Automatic Pump starters.
- Identify relay trip.
- Work on high voltage systems.
- Troubleshoot and maintain PLC’s.
- Works closely with operations, environmental, inspections, & contractors.
- Must be available and fit for duty to take call and work overtime as needed.
- Responsible for compliance with all refinery environmental, health and safety standards.
- Compliance with all Safety, Health and Environmental Standards.
- Assembling tools and materials.
- Understand and take directions of Supervisors.
- Maintaining housekeeping of the shop and work area.
- Works cooperatively with all co-workers and Supervisors.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with others in written and verbal forms.
- Reliable and engaged in furthering organizational goals, demonstrated by maintaining high standard of personal performance, professional growth and attendance.

Qualifications
To meet the basic qualifications for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. Additional qualifications include:

High School Diploma or equivalent required

Two-year certification or AA degree in electronics desired

Two (2) to five (5) years of work experience in Instrumentation, and / or electronics field preferred

Successful employment in a previous instrumentation industrial work environment desired.

Five (5) or more years in refinery work preferred

Must possess a valid U.S. Driver’s License

Must maintain active Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)

Hiring Range:
The hiring range for this position is $34.05 to $44.38 per hour. The candidate selected will be placed according to his/her skills and qualifications.
