Title:  I&E Technician


Responsible for instrumentation and electrical basic theory to maintain instrumentation equipment in good operating condition to insure accuracy and timely finding.


• High School Diploma or GED required

• Two-year certification or AA degree in electronics preferred

• 2-5 years of work experience in the electronics industry field preferred


• Successful employment in a previous instrumentation/electrical industrial work environment desired


Troubleshoot and repair transmitters, to include but not limited to flow, pressure, temperature, and level transmitters.

Calibrates and troubleshoots analyzers.

Solves and repairs minor electrical problems.

Installs (within reasonable limitations) instrumentation equipment and services as required.

Maintains all installed instrumentation and associated equipment and good operating condition.

Responsible for compliance with all refinery environmental, health and safety standards (hotwork, cold work permit, confined space entry, lockout/tagout, personal protection equipment, etc.)

Learns and uses refinery material procurement and job planning process and software.

Must be able to take call and work overtime as needed.

Instructs and trains helpers that may be assigned to him/her to complete a work project.

Oversees the work of outside contractors when they are performing work within the instrumentation trade.

Other duties as required.

Frequent walking, standing, crouching, and climbing required.  Must be able to reach overhead, squat, kneel, climb and grasp.  Must be able to lift light, medium, and heavy objects.  Must have 20/40 vision or better, have depth perception, full field, and able to distinguish colors as required in order to weld and perform other duties. While main duties involve welding and torqueing activities, person may be requested to perform other duties, such as assisting in mechanical repairs, performing insulating work, painting, and other duties as required.




Works 9 hour shifts, on a 9/80 schedule.  Safety glasses, earplugs, gloves, steel-toed shoes, hard hats, Nomex, and respirator used when necessary.  Must be able to take call outs and work overtime as needed.  Cannot be afraid of heights or of being in confined spaces such as drums, towers or tanks.
