Title:  Sr. Accountant

The Opportunity

  • Expand your skills and knowledge as a member of the shared services finance-accounting team – you’ll work with multiple stakeholders managing over $100M in spend.
  • Enjoy exposure to and collaboration with accounting team members, and operations leaders while providing analysis of the company's forecasting and business planning initiatives.
  • Reporting to the Sr Accounting Manager, you will serve as a key contributor, leveraging your talents to make an impact and grow.

 

Key activities include: 

  • Responsible for the monthly general leader activities for operating expenses and capital expenditures for the Hawaii renewables entity. This includes detailed analysis of the monthly activities, preparation of monthly invoices, posting of journal entries and intercompany account reconciliations.
  • Provide the General Ledger team with Accounts Payable analysis and support through research and understanding of the SAP AP process requirements and the (3) way match process. 
  • Provide support for yield accounting as needed.  Includes cross-training with the yield accounting team to provide backup for team members. 
  • Work with Par Pacific/Par Hawaii accounting team on issues related to SAP

Qualifications

Additional qualifications include:   

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
  • CPA and/or MBA preferred
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in general ledger accounting in a private industry and/or public accounting required; 10 years of general ledger accounting experience is preferred
  • Valid driver’s license required with acceptable driving record
  • Experience with detailed cost variance
  • Oil and Gas industry experience preferred
  • Clear understanding of GAAP financial statements required
  • Ability to perform and understand detailed cost variance analysis with the ability to communicate accurate and concise explanations to all levels of management.
  • Ability to apply finance and accounting knowledge in performing daily activities
  • Ability to communicate clearly in both verbal and written form and to collaborate and build a positive rapport with all levels of staff and management across functional areas
  • Responsive, organized and detailed oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Advanced technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to troubleshoot complex hardware and software issues required
  • Fluent in English, both oral and written required
  • A self-starter with the ability to work well independently and in a team environment
  • Proven ability and willingness to provide day-to-day and after-hours support as needed
  • SAP experience preferred
  • This is an in-office position in Kapolei. Must be willing to work in the office up to 5 days per week. Day travel within Oahu is expected.

Hiring Range:

The hiring range for this position is $85,000 to $115,000, plus non-discretionary bonus. The candidate selected will be placed according to his/her skills and qualifications.
