Title:  Welder

This position must be capable of reading technical drawings, welding, pipefitting, torqueing, and general

maintenance activities.

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT

• High school diploma or equivalent required

 

EXPERIENCE

• Minimum two (2) years trade school preferred

• Five (5) years’ experience as a Welder, Pipefitter or Boilermaker preferred

 

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Reading and understanding technical drawings in order to perform welding and installation

of piping components, structural steel, and general welding.

• Welding using gas, electric arc, helium gas welding, and Heli arc.

• Torqueing of bolts and blinding.

• Be capable of learning rigging techniques.

• Be capable of using torqueing equipment such as pneumatic guns and hydraulic

torqueing equipment.

 

• Must be able to work in confined spaces such as drums, towers, and tank.

• Must be able to work in high place while wearing fall protection equipment.

• Compliance with all Safety, Health and Environmental Standards.

• Must be available for call out and overtime work.

• Assembling tools and materials.

• Erecting scaffolding

• Maintaining housekeeping of the shop and work area.

• Participate in work and safety audits.

• Perform hot taps.

• Perform pipe fitting.

• Perform rigging.

• Understand and take direction from Supervisors.

• Work with others well.

• Communicate to others and to Supervisor.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Frequent walking, standing, crouching, and climbing required. Must be able to reach overhead, squat,

kneel, climb and grasp. Must be able to lift light, medium, and heavy objects. Must have 20/40 vision or

better, have depth perception, full field, and able to distinguish colors as required in order to weld and

perform other duties. While main duties involve welding and torqueing activities, person may be

requested to perform other duties, such as assisting in mechanical repairs, performing insulating work,

painting, and other duties as required.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Works 9 hour shifts, on a 9/80 schedule. Safety glasses, earplugs, gloves, steel-toed shoes, hard hats,

Nomex, and respirator used when necessary. Must be able to take call outs and work overtime as

needed. Cannot be afraid of heights or of being in confined spaces such as drums, towers or tanks.
