Title: Process Engineer
The Opportunity
The Process Engineer provides technical support to refinery operations at our Wyoming refinery. The role involves a variety of projects and assignments, including design modifications, troubleshooting, and maintenance of refinery facilities, as well as the design and specification of process instrumentation.
Key activities include:
- Monitor daily operations of assigned process units.
- Assist in troubleshooting and optimization of process units.
- Assess and monitor long-term unit trends, such as catalyst activity, yields, and equipment performance.
- Assist in the design and modification of process plants.
- Support startup and shutdown activities, including turnarounds.
- Perform economic analyses and evaluations of current operations and proposed improvements.
- Identify and implement ideas to reduce operating expenses or increase product value.
- Enforce safety and environmental regulations.
- Communicate daily with operators regarding unit performance and feedback on capital projects.
- Size and select PSVs, control valves, orifice plates, and other flow devices.
- Conduct and facilitate PHAs and support PSM roles in MOC, PSSR, and PSI.
- Assist with P&ID development and updates to reflect field changes.
- Provide technical support to the maintenance department.
- Support project engineering activities, such as cost estimates and material requisitions.
- Available for off-hours work, especially during emergencies and turnarounds.
Qualifications
To meet the basic qualifications for employment, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Experience in a petroleum refinery or chemical engineering environment preferred.
- 3-8 years refining engineering experience or 4 years refinery experience.
- Ability to climb towers and vessels, work at various heights, and in confined spaces.
- Safety and environmental sensitivity.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with multifunctional teams.

- Frequent walking, standing, crouching, and climbing required.
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
- Vision to 20/40 or better, depth perception, full field, and able to distinguish colors.
- Exposure to environmental elements such as heat, noise, vibration, and fumes.
