Operations Superintendent
The Opportunity
- Operations Superintendent at a Growth-Oriented Energy Company
- Reporting to the Operations Manager
Key activities include:
- Provide and address technical issues/plans for the Operations Department
- Responsible for the day-to-day Operation of the Refinery and supervisor of on-shift Operations team members consisting of a day coordinator, front-line supervisors and hourly workforce to meet safety, environmental, production, quality and reliability goals
- You will partner with HR for administration of Talent Acquisition, Performance Management, Employee Relations, and Labor Relations (Union/CBA) matters for Operations Department personnel
- You will be responsible for execution of the refinery movements and blending program and ensure it meets established goals
- Set Direction and lead implementation of optimization improvements
- Monitor refinery activities on a daily basis to ensure safe operating limits, environmental permit limits compliance with the daily and week production plan. Communicate deviations and take immediate actions to correct. Coordinate with Planning, Engineering, Marketing and Safety Departments on Operating unit status.
- Supervise front-line supervisors and refinery operations team members. Ensure production plan is executed without incident. Apprise management of significant incidents and potential operational problems.
- Be responsible for compliance requirements to include necessary manuals and inspections.
- Oversee issuance of necessary daily orders and notices
- Active participant in Refinery Process Safety Management processes. Focus on Safe Work Permitting, Emergency Response for assigned units. Additionally, enforces Operating Procedures, Training, MOC, PSSR, and Incident Investigation processes.
- Work with the Operations Manager to develop refinery specific objectives aligning with refinery's targets for safety, regulatory compliance, reliability, and efficiency.
- Turnaround scoping, execution, and schedule tracking
- Serve as incident commander during response to an emergency or abnormal condition, as well as on-site specialist for Emergency Responders.
- Participate as member of the Operations leadership team. Works collaboratively with other Supervisors and Superintendents to develop operations procedures.
- Coordinates on-shift fact-finding and investigation to accurately determine root cause of safety and environmental incidents as well as process safety management and process disruption events. Ensures quality of reporting and communication pertaining to these events.
- Participate in recruiting Operator Trainees and Shift Supervisors.
- Review and analyze refinery performance reports to determine causes and preventive actions for non-conformity and provide recommendations to maximize efficiency.

Qualifications
To meet the basic qualifications for employment, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. Additional qualifications include:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Chemical) preferred
- 7 years oil refining operations preferred.
- Front-line supervisory experience desired.
- Experience in labor relations with a union workforce is desired
- Ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization is required
- Must have computer skills including proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office suite programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- This position requires organization and communication skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks while meeting deadlines and production requirements.

Hiring Range:
The hiring range for this position is $155,733 to $233,599 per year. The candidate selected will be placed according to his/her skills and qualifications.
