The Opportunity

• Reliability Engineer in the Electrical field at a Growth-Oriented Energy Company.
• Recommend and implement improvements to enhance infrastructure of the reliability of refinery electrical and instrumentation systems and infrastructure.

• Reporting to the Reliability Superintendent, manage a variety of projects and assignments involving maintenance and modernization of refinery electrical and instruments systems, engineering design and troubleshooting low- to high-voltage equipment. 

Key activities include:

• Provides specifications and guidelines for electrical and instruments systems. Provides technical leadership to others in the field of electrical/instrumentation.
• Conducts troubleshooting of refinery-wide electrical systems (480V to 138kv).
• Use computer-assisted software (AutoCAD) to create/update drawings
• Provide support/quality assurance for ongoing projects
• Coordinate plant efforts in reviewing breakdowns and failures with the intention of eliminating root causes of the failures, increasing the on-stream plant reliability and reducing costs.  
• Keep current with the latest technical innovations in electrical engineering
• Assists in a continuous improvement process by identifying new information electrical/instrumentation that enhances profitability and reliability.  
• Assists with One-Line development and updating (as-built One-Lines) to reflect field changes  
• Provides technical support to the maintenance department including supervision of electrical checks prior to system commissioning, reviewing PM’s, etc.
• Develops and maintains standardized specifications for electrical selection and installation.
• Provides primary review of vendor/contractor electrical design to ensure compliance with refinery specifications and applicable safety codes.
• Assist in training of maintenance and operations personnel.
• Must be available to work during off-hours, especially for emergencies and turnarounds.
• Must be able to work effectively with others at all levels and functional areas of the refinery.
• Develops PM tasks in SAP to improve reliability of electrical/instruments.
• Keep reliability superintendent informed on all activities, opportunities, and status of assigned responsibilities
• High Ownership in the MOC (Management of Change) process.
• Proactively seek out cost savings and reliability enhancement opportunities.
• Must be available to work on off-hours especially for emergencies and turnarounds.
• Must be able to work effectively with others at all levels and functional areas of the refinery
• Regular schedule includes weekends, holidays and on call 24/7 for emergencies.

Qualifications

To meet the basic qualifications for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. Additional qualifications include:

• Bachelor’s degree, from an accredited university, in Electrical Engineering required
• Minimum two years’ experience in power engineering preferred
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Proficient in AutoCAD, ETAP, SCADA, and SEL a plus
• SAP knowledge that includes ability to create Work Orders from Notifications desired
• Must possess a valid U.S. Driver’s License with acceptable Driver’s Abstract
• Must be able to communicate in oral and written format with all levels of employees within the organization.

Hiring Range:

The hiring range for this position is $143,000 to $166,000, plus a non-discretionary bonus. The candidate selected will be placed according to his/her skills and qualifications.
